Bragg soldier killed in Afghanistan

A Fort Bragg solder was killed Saturday in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Monday.

Spc. Ronnie J. Pallares, 19, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., died in Andar district of Ghazni province of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

Pallares was assigned to the 57th Sapper Company (Combat) (Airborne), 27th Engineer Battalion (Combat) (Airborne), 20th Engineer Brigade (Combat).

He enlisted in the Army in 2008 and was on his first deployment.
