Police have arrested two boys – ages 13 and 15 – in connection with the killing of another teenager who was shot Wednesday outside a north Raleigh apartment complex.

A police spokesman said Friday that investigators obtained juvenile petitions and secured custody orders for the teens in connection with the death of Fernando Garibay-Benitez, 16.

According to a 911 call released Thursday, the teen was shot in the head by someone in a silver or gray minivan near the Lexington on the Green apartments on Rolling Green Court.

Benitez was dead when police arrived.

Benitez was a rising sophomore at Millbrook High School in Raleigh, according to the Wake County Public School System, and friends said he loved soccer and worked a construction job for extra money.

Investigators haven't released a motive for the shooting and said Friday that they are still investigating the case.
