15-year-old, 10-year-old shot while inside Fayetteville home
Two juveniles were injured Thursday in a Fayetteville shooting.
At 12:45 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 300 block of Plum Street to a report of a shooting that had just occurred. Police said someone fired shots into the house.
Bullet holes were visible through the outside of the home. The shooting occurred as Tropical Storm Idalia was passing through.
When officers arrived, they found a 15-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl with non-life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to the hospital.
"I just woke up and the only thing I heard was a gunshot," said neighbor Tony Floyd. "I said 'this doesn't make any sense.'"
The names of the victims were not provided.
"The only thing that we can gather as of right now is that it was a shooting that happened outside of the residence, so someone shot into the home and that's where you have a 10-year-old juvenile and a 15-year-old juvenile who were struck by gunfire," said Sgt. Alpha Caldwell with Fayetteville Police.
While police search for a suspect, the shootings have neighbors on edge.
"These young guys just don't know what life is about," said neighbor James Hines. "...why are we killing each other?"
