Box truck overturns, blocking Six Forks Road exit off I-440 in Raleigh

The off-ramp from Interstate 440 Eastbound onto Six Forks Road in Raleigh was closed for hours on Tuesday after a box truck overturned.

The crash was reported before 12:15 p.m. at the off-ramp at Exit 8 for Six Forks Road. WRAL News is working to learn if any other vehicles were involved and if the driver was injured.

At 2 p.m., the Raleigh Police Department posted photos of the scene, writing: "This incident is ongoing and is causing traffic in surrounding areas. Drivers should seek alternate routes as this area will remain closed for an extensive amount of time."

The state Department of Transportation estimated the ramp would reopen by 4 p.m.
