Bojangles expands to the West Coast with first LA locations announced

The agreement involves opening 30 new locations over the next six years.

North Carolina-based Bojangles is expanding to the West Coast. The chicken and biscuit fast food franchise announced Monday that it has signed an agreement to bring the concept to Los Angeles County in early 2025.

The agreement involves opening 30 new locations over the next six years.

Los Angeles entrepreneur Lorenzo Boucetta and Poulet Brothers, LLC, are behind the California expansion.

We are ecstatic to bring Bojangles to Los Angeles residents and look forward to opening our first location in California next year, while anticipating the exciting growth that will follow.”

Bojangles opened its first location in Charlotte on July 6, 1977. It will be celebrating 47 years in business this year.

Bojangles is making big moves

Bojangles currently has more than 800 locations in 12 states. The restaurant has been selected as a WRAL Voters' Choice Award winner and finalist multiple times for its sweet tea and biscuits.

The restaurant made headlines last year when it was announced that it would open a series of new locations that will have a streamlined menu without all-day breakfast (served until 2 p.m.) or bone-in chicken.

The chicken tenders are highlighted on the streamlined menu, as well as premium salads, and a sides menu that does not feature grits, Cajun pintos or mashed potatoes and gravy. The drink selections include three milkshakes (chocolate, vanilla and Boberry).

Bojangles Vice President of Communications Stacey McCray told WRAL News at the time that there are "no plans to change the menu in our existing restaurants."

Also in 2023, the restaurant teamed up with Boone-based Appalachian Mountain Brewery for a hard sweet tea to be sold at gas stations and grocery stores.
