Authorities recover body suspected of drowning in Falls Lake

The body of a man who went missing on Monday at Falls Lake has been recovered.

On Tuesday, the Wake County Sheriff's Office identified the man as Henry Nicolas Montes-Salvatierra. He was 30 years old.

According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a possible drowning around 6:30 p.m. Monday near the Holly Point boat ramp at Falls Lake.

Witnesses said the man was spending time with friends on the lake when he went into the water to swim. They said he went underwater and never resurfaced.

Authorities located the body at 9:50 p.m. Monday after a three-hour joint search by the Wake County Sheriff's Office and the Northern Wake Fire Department.

The Northern Wake Fire Department, Wake Forest Fire Department, Wake County Emergency Management, Wake County EMS, North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, and North Carolina State Park all responded and assisted in the search.
