Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, a Wilmington shop that employs people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will be featured on the Macy’s Fourth of July Spectacular on Wednesday night.

Owner Amy Wright, who was named the 2017 CNN Hero of the Year, told NBC affiliate WECT that a production team for the Spectacular visited the Wilmington shop several months ago and spent several hours in the shop filming employees.

“They put together a show airing Wednesday night on NBC for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” Wright said. “We just want to keep reaching people with our mission. Keep inspiring people to think outside the box in their own business.”

Bitty & Beau’s is named after two of Wright’s children, who were born with Down syndrome.

Wright’s Hero of the Year honor came with a $100,000 prize, which she said she will use to open doors to other opportunities for people with disabilities.

Bitty & Beau’s already has a second location in Charleston, S.C. and another is planned for Savannah, Ga.

The Fourth of July Spectacular is scheduled to air Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
