When bars compete, cancer loses – that's the theme for Raleigh Bar Wars, which happens Friday night downtown.

The battle starts at Isaac Hunters with check in at 3 p.m.

The other participating locations are The Big Easy, London Bridge Pub, The Oxford, The Hive, Tir na Nog and Rum Runners.

Tickets, which are $30 each, get you a wristband allowing you admission to the participating bars and access to their drink specials and discounts, live entertainment and games, and a very important voting ballot to help decide which bar wins for best party.

The bars are competing against each other with drink specials and entertainment. Some places will have bands and DJs, while others will offer pub activities and games.

The first 100 people to show up get free Gumption sunglasses. The first 240 participants receive a pint of beer from Lonerider.

Ticket proceeds go to the non-profit organization, Cancer Never Sleeps, which focuses on cancer awareness and prevention for the Triangle area.

Note: You must be 21 years and older and have a valid ID to attend the event. You will also need to fill out a waiver to participate.

The event is presented by LiveGumption.com.
