Man charged with murder of Fayetteville woman after 6-hour standoff

Police on Friday arrested a first-degree murder suspect after an hours-long standoff at a Fayetteville home.

Around 6:15 a.m., officers responded to a home in the 5600 block of Mesa Drive to arrest Raeqwon Mitchell Carlisle, 28, of Fayetteville, who was wanted for the first-degree murder of 40-year-old Crystal Michelle Loughran.

When police first attempted to take Carlisle into custody, he barricaded himself inside the home.

WRAL News was there when Carlisle was taken into custody shortly before 12:30 p.m.

Police said Loughran was killed on Oct. 11 at Fieldcrest and Cedric streets. A man found her body while looking for his lost dog.

Family members were too upset to appear on camera but told WRAL News Lougran was a wonderful woman who didn't know a stranger.

Members of Fayetteville Police Department’s Emergency Response Team, Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and Fayetteville Police Department’s Gang Unit assisted with the standoff.
