With a move into bigger digs, Beanie + Cecil Baby has expanded their line of consignment items.

The store, which features contemporary baby clothing, gear and gifts, moved in January from their spot in Cameron Village to a space about twice the size in Seaboard Station near Peace College and downtown Raleigh. The store originally opened in December 2007.

Hayli Thornhill, who owns the store with partner Alex Long, tells me the store started carrying some consignment items in November 2009 in the old space.

"We also have new stuff too," she tells me. "The consignment has blown up over here."

The store will have a special event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday with wine, light appetizers, juice and cookies. A face painter will be there from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Consignors also can win prizes if they bring in items. If you've never consigned with Beanie + Cecil before, be sure to check out the website and give them a call at 919-821-7985 before you bring anything in.

The event is right before the very popular Music on the Porch series, which starts around 6 p.m. on Fridays at Seaboard Station. Families come in droves to the concerts.
