The Greensboro Science Center announced the arrival of a baby pygmy hippo with a video posted to Facebook.

The calf was born on Wednesday to mom Holly and dad Ralph, who were paired for breeding by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan® (SSP). It is estimated that fewer than 2,500 adult pygmy hippos remain in the wild.

The pygmy hippo grows to between 350 and 600 pounds, just a portion of the size of the more common river hippos which can weigh between 2,900 and 4,000 pounds.

Greensboro Science Cetner will post to social media when the baby is ready for a public debut.
