A Youngsville man whose remains were found near Zebulon last year had been shot at least six times, according to an autopsy report released Wednesday.

Brendan Robert Hurley, 23, and Anthony James McCall, 21, of Raleigh, had been missing for about a week when Hurley's remains were found off Covered Bridge Road in Johnston County and McCall's remains were found in Nash County.

Hurley was shot in the head, twice in the neck, chest, left arm and left leg, according to an autopsy report. Four bullets were found with his remains, the report states.

McCall's autopsy hasn't been released yet.

McCall told family members that Hurley was giving him a ride to McCall's mother's house to let her dog out in July 2019. Hurley was then supposed to pick his own mother up from work, but he never showed up.

Hurley's Dodge Charger was later found abandoned near a construction debris recycling plant on Raleigh View Drive, off Garner Road in south Raleigh, police said. Family members said blood was on the passenger’s seat.
