Authorities: Man found dead after fishing near Johnston County home

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has launched a death investigation after a man was found dead by a pond near his home.

Authorities said that Edward Lee Johnson, 64, of 717 Banner Elk Road in Benson was found dead Saturday night by a family member. Johnson had been fishing near his home at the time, family members said.

Authorities have not determined a cause of death.
