Arrest made after man shot in the face on Old Wake Forest Road
A man was hospitalized after getting shot in the face on Tuesday evening, Raleigh police said.
Police responded around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday to Old Wake Forest Road between Sumner Boulevard and Ruritania Street.
On Tuesday, Capt. J.R. Manson said the shooting happened at an abandoned house in the area. Manson said it appears the man shot and the shooter were staying in the abandoned home together.
"He was suffering from what appears to be a gunshot wound to the face, but he was alert and conscious and was able to talk to us and describe that the actual scene was down the road on Old Wake Forest Road, which was at a abandoned house," Manson said.
Manson said the man was pushing a bicycle down the road when officers found him.
On Wednesday, Wake County deputies arrested 31-year-old Marco Antonio Ramirez-Gonzalez in connection to the shooting.
Ramirez-Gonzalez is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury. He is at the Wake County Detention Center under no bond.
Raleigh police officers also found blood and shell casings from the shooting at the scene.
Manson said no one else was hurt in the shooting.
"I don't know the exact cause of what led up to the actual shooting," Manson said.
