Free tickets to Raleigh circus come with a catch

Garden Bros Circus sends stacks of tickets to schools, daycare centers and people in the media, including some received Monday by 5 on Your Side.

The circus is scheduled to take place at Dorton Arena next Wednesday and Thursday.

Here's what we found out that you should know.

The "free" tickets are mostly an advertising effort although they do cover admission for a child who goes with a paying adult.

That ticket price is as much as $38 plus handling fees.

But several guests who attended shows in other parts of the country in recent weeks have complained events were disorganized and that some shows started early, others late and that tickets, concessions and souvenirs were overpriced.

The company has an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau for "failure to respond to complaints."

We talked with company spokesman, Jim Davis.

He said they're "on the road seven days a week," adding, it's a "tough thing to keep perfect every single moment."'

We did find some reviews that describe the show as entertaining.

For fans who do plan on attending, try to find some of the "free" tickets so you don't have to pay $10 for your child.
