Apex police investigating after bomb threat evacuates part of downtown

Apex police were on the scene Saturday evening of a bomb threat in the downtown area.

Apex police confirmed to WRAL a bomb threat was called in to the town's communication center. An area of downtown Apex was evacuated along Salem Street starting at Halle Cultural Arts Center.

After an investigation, police gave the all clear around 5:20 p.m. Saturday.

WRAL's Kelly Riner reports there was a huge staging area of ambulances and multiple patient transport vehicles during the time. Police were also stationed on the rooftop of some of the buildings.

Police stayed on the scene investigating Saturday evening after the streets were opened.
