Apex man charged in fatal motorcycle crash

An Apex man has been charged after a fatal motorcycle crash Saturday night.

The crash took place in front of a Walmart on N.C. Highway 55 at around 9:30 p.m.

David Milton Owens, 51, of Apex, the driver of a red Prius, was charged with felony death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired.

The motorcyclist, Cedric Simmons, 33, of Fuquay-Varina, was transported to a nearby hospital as a trauma code. He was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.
