All lanes of I-85 S reopen near Virginia state line after tractor-trailer crash
All of the southbound lanes of Interstate 85 have reopened after a tractor-trailer crash near the Virginia State line Wednesday morning.
When the crash first happened Wednesday morning, all of the southbound lanes of I-85 were closed.
The road was closed two miles after Exit 233 (U.S. Highway 401) near Warrenton.
Sky 5 flew over the scene of the crash Wednesday morning.
A tractor-trailer was blocking the southbound lanes.
It appeared that something was scattered along the shoulder of the highway.
WRAL's Brian Shrader said traffic was backed up two and a half miles Wednesday morning.
Detour: Motorists are advised to take Exit 233 (U.S. 401 South). That road becomes U.S. Highway 1 South in Norlina. Follow U.S. 1 South, then make a right onto Manson Drewry Road to access I-85 South on the other side of the crash.
