ALDI targeting Chapel Hill for a new location
ALDI has announced that they are working towards opening a new location in Chapel Hill, NC.
Krysta Cearley, Salisbury division vice president at ALDI, shared with WRAL: "We’re excited to share that ALDI is pursuing approvals for a new store location in Eastgate Crossing Shopping in Chapel Hill. As soon as there are any updates regarding this potential location, we will reach out."
Eastgate Crossing Shopping Center, which is located at the intersection of E. Franklin Street and Fordham Blvd., already has a Trader Joe's.
There are currently no ALDI stores in Chapel Hill and the closest location is in Durham at 7906 NC Hwy 751.
Back in February 2021, ALDI announced that the retailer will be opening approximately 100 new locations this year, expanding Curbside Grocery Pickup options and breaking ground on a new regional headquarters and distribution center.
The most recent ALDI to open in the area is located in Goldsboro, NC and the grand opening was held on June 17.
Back in January 2021, the first ALDI in Johnston County opened as well.
