Harnett Central High School was evacuated on Friday afternoon after an "anonymous safety threat."

Law enforcement was contacted, according to Harnett County Schools Public Information Officer Natalie Tucker Ferrell.

An email sent to parents said that there was a bomb threat made and that students were at the football stadium.

No parents or visitors were allowed on campus on Friday afternoon while the Harnett County Sheriff's Office investigated.

In Lee County, students and staff were locked down around 12:30 p.m. after an anonymous threat was called in to the school.

Classes were dismissed at 2 p.m. Buses were able to take students home and student drivers were able to leave the campus. In a post to Facebook, the school explained, "Everyone is safe at this time. Thank you for your cooperation."

A district spokesperson said the threat was determined to be a hoax.
