After eight years on Oberlin Road, Gigi’s Cupcakes is closing its doors Thursday.

The shop posted on Facebook that it will sell the rest of its baker’s choice cupcakes for $3 and ice cream scoops for $1.

“Nine years ago, my business partner Jude called with the idea of opening the first Gigi’s Cupcakes in the state of NC. After thinking him insane, I agreed, and our lives have been absolutely crazy ever since,” the Facebook post said.

Other Gigi’s Cupcakes locations, including at Brier Creek in Raleigh, in Winston Salem and in Charlotte, will remain open.

The parent company Gigi’s Cupcakes filed for bankruptcy this month.

The first Gigi’s Cupcakes opened in Nashville in 2008.
