The SPCA of Wake County is sharing a feel-good story with the community after one animal's hope for a home took a positive turn following a prolonged stretch of bad luck.

Ronald, a 1-year-old mixed breed dog, suddenly has a massive outpouring of families who want to give him a home after having 14 adoptions fall through.

SPCA spokesperson Samantha Ranlet describes Ronald as "a big puppy" and carrying a smart, loving personality. He was only there a little over a month, but needed some social media magic to break the dry spell.

Ranlet said some families who looked into adopting Ronald were concerned about his size, feeling he wouldn't be suitable for homes with small children. For those reasons, potential suitors ultimately declined adopting Ronald.

So on Wednesday, the SPCA shared a post advertising Ronald on Facebook. In about 24 hours, more than 11,000 people shared his story. Ranlet said the SPCA received around 300 combined messages and calls about adopting him.

Needless to say, animal lovers were touched by his story. Things look good for Ronald to find a home very soon.

"His whole bad luck streak turned around very quickly," Ranlet said. "We're so overwhelmed by the incredible response."

The agency is no longer accepting adoption requests for Ronald, but you can still sponsor him if you're interested through the SPCA of Wake County website.

"Number 15 might be the lucky number for Ronald," Ranlet said.
