The Perfect Tree

A Christmas tree grown right here in North Carolina will soon be standing in a place of honor: The White House.

A towering 18.5 foot Fraser Fir from Ashe County will stand from floor to ceiling, filling the Blue Room of the White House. Every year, the room's chandelier is removed to accommodate the tree's full height.

When White House staff go in search of the perfect Christmas tree each year, North Carolina has the distinction of being the state from where Christmas trees are most often selected.

Drive into the mountains of North Carolina, and you'll see why our trees are picked more than any other state's: Rows and rows of Christmas trees create perfect green-bristled pyramids along our mountainsides. Our state's trees are personally selected and have celebrated Christmas with many United States presidential families - even being delivered on elegant horse-drawn carriages.

This year, Amber Scott and Alex Church of Cline Church Nursery, won the honor of presenting their tree to First Lady Jill Biden.

Jill Biden will receive the official 2023 White House Christmas Tree at the White House on Monday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m.

She will welcome the tree alongside several military-connected families.
