WRAL iPhone app v2

An update released Thursday for the WRAL app, on iPhone and Android devices, allows you to get a daily "wake-up call" from morning TV anchors Bill Leslie, Kelcey Carlson, Brian Shrader and meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. Weather junkies can even wake to the voice of Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel.

The new alarm-clock feature allows you customize your wake-up sound and set a snooze interval of 5 to 60 minutes.  Alarms can be set to repeat daily, on weekdays or on specific days of the week. The app also has large, easy-to-ready numbers so it can be used as a bedside clock.

To access the alarm features and clock, look for the "Wake Up" icon in the app menu bar, which now slides left and right for easier access to more menu items.

The app update also adds push notifications for Android devices, keeping you connected to breaking news, and the app offers the latest headlines in news, business, sports and entertainment, including national and strange news stories. Carry WRAL in your pocket, and share stories via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter or SMS without ever leaving the app.

You can even send a quick tip to the WRAL newsroom by clicking the "Report It" option to share video or photos.

WRAL Out & About offers a guide to goings-on, Go Ask Mom gives parenting advice and the Smart Shopper details deals. Access them all with a click and on the go in the WRAL app.

Download it, or any of the WRAL apps specific to sports, shopping and weather in the iTunes or Google Play stores.
