Videri Chocolate Factory opened in 2011 in the warehouse district of downtown Raleigh. Since then, it has won multiple awards and expanded into serving soft-serve ice cream. 

The shop also offers tours of its beans-to-bar process, so guests can get a first-hand view of what it takes to create its chocolate bars and confections.

Videri is a multiple WRAL Voters' Choice Award winner for best local chocolate The factory has also won Good Food Awards, which honor “tasty, authentic, and responsibly produced” food and beverages.

Videri Chocolate Factory offers its award-winning chocolate, plus Black & White Coffee and soft serve ice cream.

Who owns Videri Chocolate Factory?

Sam Ratto is the owner of Videri Chocolate Factory in Raleigh, North Carolina. He moved to the Triangle in 2009 from California with plans of running golf courses for a living.

“I got a job in another chocolate factory where they were starting their bean-to-bar process. My job was to sort and roast the beans and I fell in love with it the first time I touched the beans,” Ratto told WRAL in 2021. “Just kind of a winding road that got me here.”

What is Videri Chocolate made of?

Videri Chocolate does not contain soy lecithin, xanthan gum, emulsifiers or artificial flavorings. It is made of cocoa beans, cocoa butter and organic cane sugar.

The Videri Chocolate Factory is allergy friendly, meaning the chocolate is nut free, peanut free, gluten free, soy free and egg free. They also have many vegan options available. 

Can you tour Videri Chocolate Factory?

Guests can take a self-guided tour through Videri Chocolate Factory for free during regular store hours. The tours take about 15 minutes and involves scanning QR codes around the factory so you can watch videos explaining the process.

“You could walk around here, show your kids around the factory, see everything that we’re doing, and then walk up front, then get samples and ask us more questions if you have them,” Ratto said.

Guided tours of Videri Chocolate Factory are $15 per person and are led by a staff member. Tours take between 30 and 40 minutes and include a bonbon sample at the end.
