From Juneteenth to one giant yard sale, there is a lot happening this weekend in the Triangle!

Juneteenth

Capital City Juneteenth Celebration at Dorothea Dix Park - Celebrate Juneteenth with this celebration at Dix Park on June 18. There will be entertainment, food and music at Harvey Hill at Dix Park. The theme for this year's celebration is "Preserving the Past, Moving it Forward." WRAL is a proud sponsor of this event.

Juneteenth Joy: A Celebration of Freedom and Gospel Music - Kick off your weekend at the North Carolina Museum of Art with the live, in-person concert Juneteenth Joy: A Celebration of Freedom and Gospel Music. The evening kicks off at 6:45 pm with preconcert performances by local gospel artist Gene Hoskins and North Carolina's legendary gospel quartet The Napper Singers. This special event features Grammy- and Dove-nominated artist Kelontae Gavin, Grammy and Stellar Award-winning vocalists Kierra Sheard and Le'Andria Johnson, and Grammy, Stellar, and Dove Award-winning gospel music legends Hezekiah Walker and Fred Hammond.

Summerfest: Juneteenth Celebration - Join the North Carolina Symphony in a celebration of the contributions of African-American musicians and composers to our American musical heritage, featuring music by Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, William Grant Still and North Carolina Symphony Composer-in-Residence Anthony Kelley. The show is at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, at Koka Booth Amphitheatre.

Shopping and outdoor fun

100 miles of shopping: 301 Endless Yard Sale - The 301 Endless Yard Sale features tons of vendors lined up along the highway between Weldon and Dunn. The sale extends through five counties (Halifax, Wilson, Nash, Johnston and Harnett) and includes everything from antiques and collectibles to clothing and toys. The event runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, June 17-18.

Cary Night Market - Find locally-made goods and enjoy a Friday night filled with music and entertainment with Triangle area artisans, food and drinks at the old site of the Cary Library.

Oberlin Village Heritage 5K Run/Walk - The Inaugural Oberlin Village Heritage 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, June 18, at Dix Park. The start and finish line will be on Umstead Road between Middleton and Cranmer. All event proceeds will support the Friends of Oberlin Village in raising public awareness and preserving Oberlin's rich history, contributions, and achievements. There will be a kids dash at 9 a.m. for those 8 years old and younger. WRAL is a proud sponsor of this event.

Music and comedy

Summerfest: Havana Nights - Pack your picnic, lawn chairs, and blankets and enjoy great music under the stars at Koka Booth Amphitheatre on Friday night. Children ages 12 and under are admitted for free.

John Lovitz at Raleigh Improv - See the actor and comedian at Raleigh Improv this weekend. He has shows June 16-19.

5th Triangle Community Band Festival - Bring a chair and enjoy some free music at Durham Central Park on Saturday, June 18. There will be five local community bands performing from Durham, Raleigh, Cary, Chapel Hill and Holly Springs. There will be food trucks on-site. The show is from 4pm - 7:45pm.

Musical: In the Heights - In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood - a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. See it on stage at Raleigh Little Theatre through June 19.

Jesus Christ Superstar - Jesus Christ Superstar is an iconic musical phenomenon with a worldwide fan base. In celebration of its 50th Anniversary, a new mesmerizing production comes to North America. See this show on stage at Durham Performing Arts Center from June 14-19.

Comedy Queen Mo'Nique and Friends - Come witness a night of laughter with the legendary comedy queen Mo'Nique. Joining her will be a couple of her friends to add to the laughter. Don't miss the opportunity to catch her live in Raleigh.

More fun

21Marbles - Marbles Kids Museum will hold its adults-only event on Friday night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Those 21 years and older can enjoy some summer camp-themed activities. Concessions, beer, wine and seltzer will be available for purchase, plus you can roast s'mores by the campfire. Tickets are on sale now.

Father's Day Bourbon and Bacon Pairing - Clouds Brewing and Four Roses Distillery are teaming up for a bourbon and bacon pairing for Father's Day on Sunday, June 19, at 2 p.m. Tickets include a hand-selected flight of bourbon and bacon snack pairings as well as a presentation on the history of bourbon and Four Roses alongside tasting notes for each selection.
