The shooting death of a man early Monday morning at a Raleigh home appears to have been the result of a domestic dispute, according to a 911 call.

Police responded shortly after 5:15 a.m. to a house in the 2600 block of Ashland Street, where they found Sean Fitzsimmons Guess, 37, dead.

A woman who said she was Guess' girlfriend, told a 911 dispatcher that the two had gotten into an argument and that he hit her several times in the head with a gun.

They fell, at some point, and the gun went off, she told 911.

The woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries. Police said they were not life-threatening.

The case remains under investigation, authorities said, and no charges have been filed.
