The Durham Bulls at the Durham Athletic Park are in town with games through Sunday Aug. 22. Special promotions include fireworks after the Friday and Saturday games and kids running the bases after Sunday's game.

The Carolina Mudcats at Five County Stadium in Zebulon also have home games through Sunday, Aug. 22. Special promotions include Friday night fireworks.

The N.C. Courage will play Kansas City at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.

Marbles Kids Museum's Kickoff to Kindergarten is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21. This is a free event for families with rising kindergartners and offers a chance for kids to learn about some of the routines of kindergarten. Pre-registration is required.

Raleigh Rocks at Moore Square will feature live bands made up of students from the School of Rock in Raleigh performing songs of the 80s. There also will be activities for kids, including an instrument petting zoo, food trucks and more. It's noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, and free. Moore Square is in downtown Raleigh.

Prairie Ridge Ecostation's StoryWalk featuring the book "Noisy Bug Sing Along" continues. Prairie Ridge is in west Raleigh and part of the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences. The StoryWalk features laminated pages of the picture book posted along a trail. Admission is free. It's open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The ecostation's natural play space also is open.

The American Cowboy Showdown will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m, Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Hunt Horse Complex at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. It's described as an "action-packed, edge-of-your-seat, dance-to-a-beat" experience. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids ages 5 to 12.

And the N.C. Museum of Art will screen "The Wiz," starting at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21. Tickets are $7 for ages 7 and up.
