7-year-old girl bitten by shark at Ocean Isle Beach
Mayor Debbie Smith confirmed to WRAL that the child's injuries are not life-threatening.
A 7-year-old girl was bitten by a shark in Ocean Isle Beach on Sunday afternoon.
The girl's injuries were not life-threatening, and she is expected to be okay, according to Mayor of Ocean Isle Beach Debbie Smith.
Witnesses said that she was bitten on her calf near the Concord Road access. Beach goers were ordered to get out of the water by patrol, witnesses said.
There were no other reports of shark sightings today, Smith said.
