Spring Lake police investigate fatal shooting

Spring Lake police are investigating a shooting that left a 62-year-old man dead Tuesday afternoon.

Police were dispatched to Mont Drive around 3:30 p.m. to a reports of shots fired.

Officers found an unconscious man near the road in front of a home 604 Mont Drive, police said.

EMS administered CPR on the victim, but he never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has been identified as Winfred Alfonza Worthy of 604 Mont Drive.

Witnesses said two men in a green mid-1990s Lincoln Continental with gray rocker panels under the doors were seen leaving the scene of the murder.
