I love a good hot chocolate, and if you're looking to dive into a richer drink than that cocoa mix in your pantry, here are five places to check out.

Videri Chocolate Company

The shop and the attached coffee shop in downtown Raleigh both serve up hot chocolate that uses chocolate made onsite. A favorite of my kids, in particular, is the frozen hot chocolate. Videri is at 327 W. Davie St. It also sells hot chocolate mix to make at home.

Escazu Chocolates

Another downtown Raleigh shop, Escazu offers all kinds of hot chocolate options — from a spicy hot chocolate to a white chocolate and spices hot chocolate to a peanut butter hot chocolate and more. It's at 936 N. Blount St.

Lucette Grace

For a delicious, rich hot chocolate that blends dark and milk chocolates check out Lucette Grace (along with all of its amazing pastries). You also can buy a bag of its homemade hot chocolate mix to take home. Lucette Grace is at 235 Salisbury St. in downtown Raleigh.

Cocoa Cinnamon

The business with three locations in Durham offers up all kinds of chocolate drinks — from drinking chocolate to more traditional hot chocolate. Check out this creamy white hot chocolate.

Coco Bean Coffee Shop & Cafe

And in Chapel Hill, Coco Bean Cafe serves up a Mexican spiced chocolate and a peanut butter hot chocolate. It's at 1114 Environ Way.
