Authorities on Monday identified a man who drowned when his canoe flipped Sunday night on Falls Lake.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office said the body of Dimitrio Lopez-Perez, 35, was found around 10:15 p.m.

Authorities said a canoe tipped over on the lake with three people inside. The Wake County Sheriff's Office said two people were located and were safe, but the man was missing.

The spokesperson said the Wake Forest Fire Department assisted with their own boat.

Earlier in the day, three people were injured in a boating accident and another boat had to be rescued from the water. A man also drowned at Jordan Lake in Chatham County.

Authorities said the investigation of the accident is ongoing.

Authorities are asking people who are on Falls Lake to make sure they are wearing a life jacket, especially if you're not a strong swimmer.

"Life jackets are life savers," A spokesperson with North Wake Fire said. "Our thoughts are with the family of the victims at this difficult time."
