Finding the cheapest gas prices across the Triangle

Depending on where you search, some gas prices have dropped below $3 a gallon.

Jimmy Tomlinson of Wilson knew exactly where he could find that deal. He filled up at Murphy USA on Forest Hills road in Wilson.

"Well I’ve been getting my gas right here, right regular so I knew it was coming up, or, ha ha, coming down I mean, so I like it," said Tomlinson.

The WRAL FuelTracker app shows the lowest price for gas in the Raleigh metro area can be found at three stations – in Fuquay-Varina, Angier and Garner at $3.15 per gallon.

The next best deals are available at two stations in Clayton and Knightdale at $3.17 per gallon.

If you live in or near Wilson or you’re willing to drive there, you’ll find at least three gas stations selling gas just a few cents under $3 a gallon. They include Murphy USA on Forest Hills Road, the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Ward Blvd. and the Circle K on Ward Blvd.

Rolni Orelle of Wilson took advantage of the inexpensive prices.

"I seen the price up top, and I was getting food at Chic-Fil-A and I just figured, why not?" she said.

It was a good day for April Lane to fill up at the Murphy USA station on Forest Hills Drive, but she wants to see the trend continue.

"For sure, I mean definitely hopeful that it’s going down." she said.

Just around the corner from Murphy USA’s, a Shell station still sells gas for 40 cents more. Lane is glad she saw the Murphy USA station first.

"It most definitely puts stress on you having to pay so much for gas and get to work and just going anywhere," said Lane.
