3 vehicles involved in crash on I-540

A crash involving three vehicles closed all lanes of I-540 in Raleigh overnight Friday, causing a long line of vehicles to be backed up down the interstate.

The crash took place near the Buffaloe Road exit. Multiple fire trucks and first responders were on the scene.

At least two of the vehicles, a sedan and a pickup truck, had major damage. Debris could be seen scattered across the highway.

WRAL is working to learn the details of the accident and whether or not there were any injuries.
