The parents of Hailey Brooks, who was 11 years old when she was hit and killed performing in the downtown Raleigh Christmas Parade, have dropped their civil suit against her dance troupe, C.C. & Co. Dance Complex. They filed paperwork Thursday to remove C.C. & Co. from the on-going suit.
The driver of the truck that hit Hailey, the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association (doing business as Shop Local Raleigh) and D&L Floats remain as defendants in the case.

The Brooks family sued in April 2023, claiming that Hailey's death in November 2022 was "a result of the gross negligence and recklessness of Landen Glass and the organizations and individuals entrusted with ensuring the safety of the parade’s participants."
The law firm of Miller, Monroe and Plyler is representing the family in the suit.
Brooks' family is seeking $25,000 or more from each of four claims of wrongful death, four claims of negligence and gross negligence, one claim of vicarious liability and one claim of vicarious liability and agency.
Only Landon Glass, who was driving the truck that hit Hailey, faces criminal charges in connection with her death.
Glass, of Goode, Virginia, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, reckless driving to endanger and carrying a firearm at a parade. He was also charged with failure to reduce speed and improper brakes. He has been on house arrest awaiting trial since March 2023.
