The WRAL Documentary Unit investigates the growing gang problem in North Carolina in their latest documentary, Easy Targets: Gangs Getting Younger in NC. This film uncovers the types of gangs operating in the state, the crimes they’re committing, and how a recent change in North Carolina law is making it easier for gangs to recruit children.
The Emmy and Murrow award-winning WRAL investigative documentary team of reporter Cristin Severance and photojournalist Dwayne Myers, spoke with gang members, law enforcement officials and lawmakers about this pervasive issue. They also explored programs aimed at reaching kids before they choose the wrong path.
