The North Carolina Lottery Commission released its initial catalog of sports, leagues and events that sports betting operators could accept wagers on.
Operators are not required to accept bets on every sport or every league.

The list was approved by the commission's sports betting committee and must still be approved by the full commission. Sports betting in North Carolina will not begin on January 8, the first allowable date under the law. The commission has until June 15 to launch sports betting in the state.
The catalog of sports is "in line with other jurisdictions in the U.S.," according to a presentation that was made to the committee.
Exhibitions, pre-season, regular season, all-star games, all-star contests and post-season betting is permitted, according to the proposed rules. The leagues and events include all genders and all qualifying rounds, according to the rules.
Operators must receive approval from the commission for any new leagues, events or wagers. But they can apply to have a new event or wager added through the state's sports betting website.
Bets are not allowed on youth sports, which include teams or individuals competing on the behalf of an elementary, middle or secondary school. Bets are not allowed on the occurrence of injuries and penalties or the outcome of disciplinary proceedings against a participant in a sporting event or the outcome of replay reviews.
