During an investigation it was determined that the relationship had been ongoing for months.

Grantham, who had been employed by WCPS since August 2022, resigned on November 3.

Dr. Marc Whichard, WCPS superintendent, released the following statement:

"All WCPS employees are expected to maintain the highest professional, moral, and ethical standards in their interactions with students. While we are limited in what we can say, as this is a personnel matter, we can say that the school district takes any concerns about inappropriate relationships or conduct by staff very seriously. We appreciate the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for its support with this matter."

Grantham was taken into custody and held without bond until his first appearance before a District Court Judge, where he was granted a secured bond of $8,000.

The investigation is still ongoing.
