Greenville police officer rescues pit bull from nearly drowning in flood waters

A Greenville police officer rescued a dog from drowning Saturday.

According to police, Officer B. Shultz untied a small pitbull from a fence as flood waters were rising in Greenville.

Tropical Storm Ophelia has made flash flooding possible throughout eastern North Carolina.

The police department said the dog is now safe and Animal Protective Services will be conducting a follow-up investigation.
