21-year-old killed in Rocky Mount

Police said Friday they are investigating the shooting death of a Rocky Mount man.

An officer on patrol heard gunshots in the area of the 800 block of Walnut Street at about 9:45 a.m. and later found a wounded man, police said.

The man, identified as Keenan Marshall Mercer, 21, was taken to UNC Nash Hospital, where he died.
