A student was targeted Sunday night in an armed robbery at a fraternity house near North Carolina State University right before the first day of classes.
Police said two men pointed a handgun at someone inside a vehicle, demanding they get out, at a parking lot next to the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity house on Avent Ferry Road.

The men then tried to drive off with the victim's vehicle but were unsuccessful. Police said the suspects were "unable to operate a manual transmission."
The two then ran away with the victim’s cellphone and stole a vehicle on Gorman Street. A WolfAlert was sent out to inform students.
The house is not on NC State's campus.
"Especially after something like this happens, it wouldn't hurt to have some extra surveillance around," said Preston Hinson. "Maybe an officer coming in to check on things, other than that, I'd say I feel pretty safe here."
Both suspects were described by the victim, a member of the fraternity, as Black men. One wearing a blue surgical mask was approximately 20 and had dark clothing and a short dread hairstyle. The second man also had dark clothing and a short dread hairstyle. He was wearing a dark ski mask.
The robbery was across from a carjacking that occurred at a nearby Food Lion parking lot last Wednesday. Three people held someone at gunpoint in that instance.
