20-year-old woman killed in crash on I-885 in Durham

A 20-year-old woman was killed early Thursday in a crash on Interstate 885 in Durham.

According to the State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after midnight.

Troopers said the driver was traveling southbound on I-885 near Cornwallis Road when she ran off the roadway and hit a tree.

The woman died from her injuries.

All southbound lanes were closed until 2 a.m. near Exit 7. The road has since reopened.

The Durham County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.
