2 in critical condition after Erwin shooting

Two people shot late Monday night in Erwin were transported to the hospital in critical condition, officials said.

Erwin police were dispatched to Denim Drive around 11 p.m. in reference to a victim with a gunshot wound. When they arrived on scene, officers found one victim on the side of the road with multiple gunshot wounds and then found a second victim on the other side of the road, also with multiple gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to Betsy Johnson Hospital where they were then airlifted to a local trauma center, officials said. The names of the victims has not been released.

Police said they do not have a suspect.
