A man and a woman died following a robbery and shooting early Sunday morning.

According to officials, the incident occurred at a home at 2516 Culbreth Drive around 3:15 a.m.

Cumberland County authorities say Travis Melvin called 911 after he entered his home and was approached by two men dressed in black. Melvin pulled out a gun, and shots were fired.

One of the suspects, 33-year-old Brandon Bernard Bowman, of Fayetteville, was shot. Melvin's girlfriend, Sade Robinson, was also shot in the incident.

Both Bowman and Robinson were transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where they died as a result of their injuries. Officials are searching for the second suspect, who fled the scene.

Family members told WRAL News that Melvin and Robinson had a long-term relationship. They said that the pair had been together many years and Melvin was not coping well with her death.

Family members also said Bowman was once a close friend of the Melvin family, so they were surprised to learn he was involved in the incident.

Authorities said Monday afternoon that they are seeking Maiah Marie Dahl, 21, of the 4800 block of Arbor Road for questioning in connection with the incident.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500 or Crime Stoppers 910-483-8477.
