Terrifying moments in Apex Friday afternoon, as a home invasion in broad daylight led to a standoff with police, and a man dangling from a balcony.

The victim of the home invasion, Mrs. Nguyen, was home with her 17-year-old and 2-year-old grandchildren at the time.

Nguyen said this started right around 3:30 p.m., when she heard a knock on her garage door.

Nguyen answered, and that's when three armed men burst in.

They told her to lie on the ground, as they ransacked her home on Fairfax Woods Drive.

At one point, they tried to pry open a small safe.

The scariest moment for Nguyen was when her 17-year-old grandson walked into the room.

"They told him to lie down, and they put a gun to him and told him to lie down and look up. He just layed there, and they continued to try and open the safe.

Nguyen said when they couldn't get that safe open, the men grabbed what they could and jumped off her back porch.

She said she and her family were shaken, but are ok Friday evening.

The Apex Police Department told WRAL News they arrested one of those men on a nearby greenway.

Apex police said another suspect fled the scene, eventually arriving at Beechridge Apartments on Upchurch Street Just before 5 p.m.

When police arrived, the suspect had barricaded there and was refusing to come out.

At one point during the standoff, it seemed that a person was attempting to jump from the balcony before returning inside.

Officers coaxed him back inside, and arrested him as well.

Apex Police said they're still searching for the third man tonight.

They say he was last seen heading toward Chatham County in a white Nissan sedan with dark tinted windows.
