A man died and four people were wounded in shootings Monday night in Durham that occurred only 5 miles and 12 minutes apart.
The first shooting occurred before 9 p.m. along the 500 block of Gray Avenue, where police said two men were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The second shooting occurred in the 300 block of Avon Lake Drive, where one man was killed and another man and woman were taken to the hospital. Police said their wounds didn't appear to be life-threatening.
Police said two men were outdoors when shots were fired, and the woman was wounded when bullets went through the wall and struck her indoors.
The shooting does not look like it was a drive-by, police said.
The back passenger-side window of a car was shot out. Police said it was one of three cars that was hit by bullets in the shooting.
Police have not identified any suspects and would not connect the two shootings.
