In April, the state of North Carolina usually celebrates science in all of its forms during the annual North Carolina Science Festival. Museums, parks and other destinations open their doors for special events and programs that highlight the science that is happening right here in our state.
But with a stay-at-home order in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the festival, in its usual form, can't happen this year. So it's gone online.

The festival's website offers links to virtual events, activities and skywatching opportunities.
This week, for example, the NC Zoo is celebrating Earth with different activities, the Carolina Raptor Center is taking you behind the scenes and the Greensboro Science Center has Science on the Spot programs.
The festival's projects and activities page has information about the Triangle Turtle Trekkers, a solar system walk and oral history about Apollo 11, among many others.
And the skywatching session has a reminder about Morehead Planetarium and Science Center's own twice weekly programs, along with other hands-on projects.
