Man charged with murder of 19-year-old woman in Fayetteville

19-year-old woman found dead in Fayetteville

Fayetteville police on Thursday took a man into custody following the May death of 19-year-old Ayanna Thompson.

Thompson was found dead around midnight on May 26 in the 3000 block of Fort Bragg Road.

Detectives charged Levon Campbell, 26, with first-degree murder, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, possession of firearm by felon and discharging a weapon into occupied property.

Campbell was taken into custody on Thursday, almost a month after the crime. He was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
