The Carolina Hurricanes were criticized and called a "bunch of jerks" by broadcaster Don Cherry for their post game celebration. But NHL fans sure appreciated the post game creativity.
As part of the NHL Awards announced Wednesday, NHL fans voted the Canes Storm Surge as the top celebration of the year. They received an overwhelming 60% of the vote beating Boston's Brad Marchand for the 2019 Best Celly.

Hurricanes captain Justin Williams attended the awards show in Las Vegas. He was one of three finalists for the Mark Messier Leadership but the award goes to Wayne Simmonds of the Nashville Predators.
Team Vice-President and General Manager Don Waddell was one of three finalists for the league's top GM. He finished third in the voting with the award going to Boston's Don Sweeney.
Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour was not among the three finalists for the Jack Adams award as the top coach in the NHL. He was fifth in the voting. Barry Trotz of the New York Islanders was voted the top coach.
All NHL awards were voted on for the regular season accomplishments and did not include the post season.
