Fast-casual burger chain Shake Shackis opening its first Triangle area location.

The New York City-based burger joint is coming to 310 Colonades Way in Cary, according to a news release.

The 3,781 square-foot space, which will include an outdoor patio, is located in the Waverly Place shopping center.

The restaurant confirmed plans for the Cary location on Thursday, adding that it is expected to open in the fall.

In keeping with the company's "green architecture and eco-friendly construction," the Cary Shack will be built using recycled and sustainable materials, including table tops constructed from reclaimed bowling alley lanes.

Shake Shack has posted a job openingon its website for a general manager at the Cary location. The company said it will also be hiring about 80 full-time and part-time employees.

The job listing states that 40 new locations are expected to open this year.

Shake Shack has more than 240 locations nationwide, including two in Charlotte.

The business started out as a hot dog cart in New York's Madison Square Park in 2001. In 2004, a permanent kiosk opened at the park.

Shake Shack is known for its burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, crinkle cut fries and milkshakes.
